Tepezza & Hearing Loss: Understanding the Lawsuits & Your Rights

Important Information For People Thinking About Filing Tepezza Lawsuits
If you are suffering from Thyroid Eye Disease (TED) you may feel like you are all alone. While that is understandable, it isn’t true. Estimates vary, but one indicates that 19 out of every 100,000 people in the United States suffers from the condition. Another puts the number of people here who are affected by TED at 90 to 300 out of every 100,000. However, a recent study that took all of the available research into account at the time put the numbers of people diagnosed with TED at 155 to 250 people out of every 100,000.
Tepezza is an infusion usually administered once every three weeks to relieve TED symptoms including eye bulging, double vision, eye pain, redness, and swelling. Some patients claim this medication has done more harm than good, however. Specifically, some patients have claimed that they suffered hearing damage or loss after taking Tepezza. Lawsuits have been filed accordingly.
The personal injury and product liability attorneys at Van Law Firm may be able to help you pursue legal recourse if you are also suffering from permanent or temporary hearing loss, or from tinnitus, after taking Tepezza for TED. Tepezza Side Effects
Experts say Tepezza not only alleviates TED symptoms but also addresses its root causes by stopping the protein responsible for causing inflammation, muscle and fat tissue remodeling, and tissue expansion behind the eyes. They also say that this medication can be prescribed no matter how long a patient has had TED.
Of course over-the-counter (OTC) and prescription medications all have side effects. Tepezza is no different. Known side effect of Tepezza includes permanent and temporary hearing loss and tinnitatu.
Tepezza Lawsuits
In early 2023, plaintiffs started suing Horizon Therapeutics, which made Tepezza at the time. In these early cases, plaintiffs alleged that they experienced permanent hearing damage after taking Tepezza injections. The Lawsuit claims that Horizon failed to warn the plaintiff of potential side effects.

In April 2023, lawyers representing plaintiffs in 18 Tepezza lawsuits pending in five federal districts sought consolidation of the matters. They did so by filing a motion with the Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation (JPML) requesting that all of the matters be condensed into one, which would then be heard by a judge in the Northern District of California. The panel approved the motion in June, but determined that Judge Thomas M. Durkin of Chicago would hear the matter.
As the MDL process dragged on through the rest of 2023, the number of cases in the matter continued to grow, albeit slowly. By the end of the year the total number of cases in the MDL was 71 Experts then predicted that slow but steady growth in the number of cases could be a trend that would continue into 2024.
Legal wrangling continued not only through 2024, but well into 2025. As of December 9, 2025, there were 273 pending actions in the MDL. Attorneys familiar with the matter have predicted that the number of cases will continue to grow as more people learn about the supposed risks associated with Tepezza.
