Van Law Firm Community Services
- Employed over 50 people in my law firm, Van Law Firm, and not one person was laid off during the COVID-19 pandemic.
- A strong believer in serving the greater good and helping people from all walks of life with many different adversities. For example, I took on the local Las Vegas case of Nhu “Annie” Ngoc Nguyen pro bono. Annie was a 53-year-old mother of three working at Crystal Nails and Spa when she was tragically run over by a client who refused to pay for a $35 manicure. I represented Annie’s family and assisted them as they navigated through the legal process. In fact, I encourage all my attorneys at Van Law Firm to provide pro bono legal advice to underserved members of the Las Vegas community.
- Awarded the Pro Bono solo practitioner of the year in 2016 by Nevada Legal Services.
- Have a strong belief in helping the community through donations, service, and time. I donated school supplies to the local Las Vegas community through the Clark County School District.
- During the pandemic, donated $25,000 in PPE equipment to frontline medical workers and 5 laptops to local Las Vegas students so that they could attend school from home.
- Volunteered my time at Three Square, a member of Feeding America, by organizing and packaging food for hungry community members. I donated enough to pay for 30,000 meals through Three Square.
- Donated 200 bikes to children and teenagers in the local community through Bob’s Bikes.
- Donated $10,000 to Afghanistan refugees.
- Mentored high school, college, and law students in the Las Vegas community through the Huellas program.
- Van Law Firm donated their time at the Las Vegas Rescue Mission, a nonprofit dedicated to serving those in need through food, shelter, daily needs and addiction recovery.
- Sponsored a Ukrainian refugee family through the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) where I provided housing and financial support to help them build a new life in the United States. I also sent out a call to action to my network to sponsor 60 additional Ukrainian refugee families during the Ukrainian war.
- Donated $600,000 to Fred Hutch Cancer Center and have prepared documents to leave my estate to them in order to continue to fund research and find cures for cancer and related diseases.
- Donated $20,000 towards the humanitarian crisis in Israel and Gaza.
- Donated $20,000 for Chinese migrants escaping Chinese communism by making the treacherous 60-mile trek through the Darién Gap risking death and disease to eventually cross from Mexico into the U.S.
- Donated $10,000 to Child USA to help strengthen children’s rights against sex abuse
