Douglas Walker
Doug Walker graduated from University of Nevada Las Vegas’s William S. Boyd School of Law in 2003. He completed his undergraduate studies at Stockton University in Galloway, New Jersey. He is licensed to practice law in Nevada.
Doug pursued a career in law partly to continue the family tradition, as both his grandfather and uncle were attorneys. He was also motivated by the fact that he had not lived in a city with a law school during his adult life, and University of Nevada, Las Vegas provided him with the opportunity to study law.
While in law school, Doug achieved a legal victory by successfully negotiating a favorable outcome at an OSHA hearing. The case involved challenging improper fines imposed on one of his employer’s operating departments at the Mirage, during a safety inspection.
Before fully transitioning into law, Doug had a distinguished 35-year career in the casino industry, working in finance at casinos such as Harrah’s & Trump Taj Mahal in Atlantic City, as well as the Mirage, Aria and the Sahara in Las Vegas. He also taught courses at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas where he obtained an MBA in 1993. Over the years, he played a key role in opening four large casino resort hotels and led several financial computer system installations.
Doug now practices personal injury law at Van Law Firm’s office in Las Vegas, Nevada. In his free time, he enjoys physical fitness activities such as cycling, fishing, and golfing, and he also enjoys watching sports like hockey.
